So it’s official, my feet have disappeared from my line of sight. When standing, all I see is belly, though I can get a glimpse of my tootsies if I lean over a bit. All of this gives me ample opportunity to examine how swollen my feet can become at the end of the day if I don’t drink enough water. Talk about pregnancy rites of passage. Bandoleer sweat! Constipation! Swelling feet and ankles! I think I have arrived at a whole new level of sexy.
In efforts to make my feet feel a bit better, I decided to shop for a new pair of comfortable sandals. These efforts brought me to InStep, where I was able to fancy many pairs of lovely shoes I had no chance of shoving my dogs into. However, after trying a few things on, I decided upon a standard, plain-jane pair of Birkenstocks. They have a new cushy footbed that is making me all shades of happy. Yeah they’re expensive, but I got 12 years worth of wear out of my previous pair. That’s approximately $10 per year for comfortable foot-wear. Not quite as fashionable gear as I’m accustomed to, but one must make concessions I suppose.
It’s been a quiet week, at least as far as my blogging habits are concerned. Here’s a quick recap of what has gone on in the world of Katrina:
- Friday evening spent with Rog, chatting at Epoch for a bit, before heading over for a vigorous swim at Barton Springs.
- Saturday I intended to join Melissa in celebrating her son Psalm’s 2nd birthday, but got caught up in a turbo-nap instead, because I’m lame, lame, lame. Spent the day in and planned to watch proper amounts of Red Sox ass-kicking, but napped through that too. Did get some Buffy in though.
- Sunday evening B-Rock hosted a fabulous Hatch Green Chile dinner, and cooked up Rellenos and Enchiladas for a house full of people. I’m proud to say I didn’t even get horrible (at least not any worse than usual) heartburn from the chile extravaganza going on in my stomach. The dinner allowed me time to see some of my favorite people: B-Rock, Bryan with a “y”, Dr. Jason, Frank, Gerg, Rachel, and Krahnik. I might be forgetting a few people – pregnancy is doing lovely things to my memory.
- Monday, aside from work, I caught Black Orpheus at the Paramount Theatre.
- Tuesday I met up with Shane, Andy, Rachel, the artist formerly known as College Station Tracy, and a couple of their friends (I think Rebecca and Alyssa, if memory serves) at Spider House for libations and chit chat.
- Wednesday I spent the evening with Ginger for a stroll around her neighborhood and catching up on our girl-talk.
I think that catches us back up. Things in sometimes get a little backed up in the aftermath of one of my emotional posts. Go figure. Constipated blogging, the perfect compliment to my pregnancy rites of passage.
